About Me
I was born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico. I moved to Los Angeles over 20 years ago where I began my education and career journey, and have not left since then. I am an Angeleno at heart; the diverse people, city, and the many adventures I've had have made California my home. Not to mention that a big part of my family resides in California.
I am a product of a community college and transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara. I obtained a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Loyola Marymount University. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree at Pepperdine University. I paid all of my education with my out-of-pocket money up to my master's program in a time when DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) didn't exist. I began my professional journey in educational institutions because DACA opened those doors for me. I have over 15 years of combined experience working directly with bilingual students, first-generation, undocumented, and underrepresented students in both the business sector and academia. These experiences have allowed me to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background population.
